Government to probe Dúchas dumping blunder

AN embarrassed Department of the Environment has launched a major investigation into the illegal dumping of waste by the State heritage service Dúchas on a scenic game reserve.

Junior Environment Minister Noel Ahern vowed yesterday that senior officials would get to the bottom of the matter.

"It is totally unacceptable and deeply regretted by the department and very embarrassing for it," Mr Ahern said.
