The drugs, with a street value of €110,000, were found on a 44-year-old English woman when she arrived at Dublin Airport yesterday.

The woman, who was taken to Santry Garda Station, had travelled from Sao Paulo in Brazil via Madrid in Spain. Customs officials found the drugs inside the leatherette covers of Spanish poetry books in the woman’s baggage and in the insoles of her shoes. So far this year, customs officials have seized approximately five kilos of cocaine with a street value of €500,000. Earlier this month, gardaí uncovered Ireland’s first cocaine laboratory in Kilkenny.
