WITH the threat of further strike action looming large, CIÉ unions and Transport Minister Seamus Brennan will this morning begin talks on the future of the company.

Although all sides have committed themselves to intensive talks under Labour Relations Commission facilitator Kevin Foley, SIPTU has refused to pull back from further strike action on March 18, unless progress is made.

At a two-hour informal meeting between unions, the department and Mr Foley agreed yesterday to a schedule of talks over the coming four weeks.
