TV PROVIDERS Chorus and Ntl are calling for regulatory constraints to be removed so they can compete on a level playing field with Sky.

Ntl marketing director Mark Mohan said both domestic operators face a number of obstacles that prevent them from competing on a equal footing with Sky, the dominant player in the market with 245,000 subscribers. Mr Mohan said these constraints include:

lPaying a 3.5% levy to the Telecommunications Regulator on every package they provide to customers. Sky does not have to pay this tariff.
