CAB to seek High Court judgment against businessman
Just over a week ago, the Supreme Court overturned a High Court judgment for €2.25m granted to the CAB against Mr Hunt, an alleged illegal importer of tobacco.
The court found CAB had not fully complied with Revenue procedures in assessing the alleged outstanding taxes of Mr Hunt. As a result, it was not entitled to seek the High Court judgment where tax assessments in relation to Mr Hunt were not, at the time the proceedings were taken, final and conclusive under tax legislation.
