Shop till the price drops as Dublin is still the dearest

DEAR old Dublin has lived up to its name in the latest price survey released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Shop till the price drops as Dublin is still the dearest

The survey, based on prices collected for the Consumer Price Index, found that average prices for meat, fish and vegetables were up to 10% dearer in Dublin. And a 10kg bag of potatoes was up to 17% more expensive. Pub prices in the capital were around 5% higher and the greatest difference was for a pint of larger at over 13%.

The CSO survey also shows that the cost of going to the cinema in the capital is 16% higher than elsewhere while a wash, cut and blow-dry in a Dublin hairdresser will cost 11% more.
