Five arrested after shoot-out

The five were arrested in follow-up searches and raids, after gardaí came under fire on Monday evening as they investigated a report of a break-in at a farmhouse in the village of Virginia.

Those arrested are being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and can be held for up to 72 hours. A sixth person, a female arrested in Navan, Co Meath, was released from custody.
