YOUNG Irish men spend four times more on alcohol than any of their European neighbours, according to a major health survey released in Brussels yesterday.

The report also found a high percentage of teenagers using illegal drugs, though the numbers have dropped from a 1995 study.

Ironically, the statistics found the Irish to be among the healthiest in the EU with the lowest number of people suffering from dementia and diabetes.
