Dutch agency in compo bid against Irish operation
The case is the latest in a series of claims against Wyeth Medica Ireland (WMI) and the Irish waste firm Cara Environmental Technology concerning contaminated animal feed which caused one of the worst food scares in Europe in recent years.
Earlier this year a Dutch company launched a €115m compensation claim in the High Court here against both firms over sugar water which contaminated pig feed in Holland and Belgium. In July 2002, sugar water contaminated with the hormone MPA found its way into pig feed in Belgium and Holland, resulting in the culling of 55,000 animals.
