A MYSTERY surrounding the whereabouts of a crucial folder and a conflict of evidence between the two central protagonists lies at the heart of yesterday’s Travers report.

The report details two different accounts of the key issue of what Minister Mícheál Martin was told. Michael Kelly, who yesterday vacated his secretary general position, was adamant he had twice told Mr Martin of the illegal charges issue.

However, Mr Martin contradicted this, maintaining that he was never told anything. In addition, both disagreed about whether a crucial 2004 folder, containing a letter seeking advice from the Attorney General, ever actually landed on Mr Martin’s desk.
