IN March, congress said women were being denied full participation in the Irish workforce. A number of factors contribute to this, not least ongoing discrimination and unequal pay.

In 21st century Ireland, a new consideration has entered the frame: children. Quite simply, this society, or, rather, this economy does not make having children easy. In fact it appears to punish you for doing so.

We have no paid parental leave; we have no right to flexible working; we have no accessible, affordable, high-quality childcare system.
