Man to face charges in connection with fatal stabbing in Dublin
The death is understood to have occurred during an alcohol-fuelled dispute at a house in north Dublin.
Two men are believed to have become involved in a row at the house in Clonshaugh which spilled out into the front garden.
The men are thought to have attacked each other with knives and both received injuries. Gardaí from Coolock Station were called to the house on Clonshaugh Drive, near Priorswood Church.
The scene was cordoned off for forensic examination. Ambulance crews brought the two men to nearby Beaumont Hospital.
One of the men sustained fatal injuries and died a short time later. He was named yesterday as Raymond Browne, aged 33, from Clonshaugh Drive. The second man, aged 29, received relatively minor injuries.
He was arrested and detained at Coolock Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows a maximum detention period of 12 hours.
Detectives contacted the Director of Public Prosecutions following initial questioning.
It’s understood that the DPP yesterday directed that the man could be charged. The 29-year-old was kept in custody overnight at Coolock Station.
He will be taken to Swords District Court later this morning to face charges in connection with the death.
Gardaí are still appealing for anyone who may have been in the Clonshaugh Drive/Priorswood Church area between 12.30am and 2am, or who may have information concerning the incident, to come forward.
