Greens criticise tagging plan

THE Green Party has stated that the introduction of prisoner tagging must not be seen as a substitute of fundamental reforms of the Irish Prison System.

Green Party spokesman Ciarán Cuffe said that they believed tagging isn’t a viable replacement for human contact with probation officers, and has called on the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, to acknowledge that there is a crisis in our prison system.
