Vaughan Restaurant causes Mexican stand-off

A RESTAURANT owner and embassy officials are on the brink of a Mexican stand-off over the name of a new restaurant in Kilkenny city.

The Mexican Embassy is annoyed that the building, on Parliament Street, is named The Drunken Mexican.

Owner, Michael O’Connor, says he never intended to cause offence to Mexicans. However, he has no intention of changing the name.
