College fees plan remains unclear

THE question of student college fees will not be clarified by Education Minister Noel Dempsey this week, a spokesperson said last night.

It had been speculated that Mr Dempsey might clarify the restructuring of student funding when he addresses the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) annual congress on Thursday.

However, it’s now expected that the final outcome of a delayed review of his department’s annual €380m budget will not be known until Easter at the earliest.
