Book reveals McCreevy’s key role in founding PDs

THE man once touted as a possible Fianna Fáil leader, Charlie McCreevy, played a key role in helping to found the Progressive Democrats 20 years ago.

McCreevy, now a European Commissioner, even drafted a policy document for the embryonic party.

The disclosures are made in a book to be published this week called Breaking the Mould: How the PDs changed Irish Politics by journalist Stephen Collins.
