Hospital consultants set to vote for industrial action

The results of an Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) ballot, which will be counted today, are expected to show the majority of its 680 members favour strike.

Members of the Irish Hospital Consultant Association (IHCA) are also expected to step up their dispute following an EGM on Sunday. However, industrial action cannot begin until its 1,500 members are balloted over the next fortnight. Both organisations are due to meet this morning to discuss the possibility of a joint industrial strategy.
