THE numbers of tourists from Britain and the US are down significantly in the South East, tourism bosses have conceded.

While the number of Irish holiday-makers enjoying short breaks or full week stays in the region is up, there has been a drop-off in visitors from abroad, tourism figures will reveal next month.

“There has been a downturn in visitors from the US and British market so far this year,” said Gary Breen of South East Tourism.
