‘Pupils will get soaked between classes’

SCHOOL principal Ruairí Ó hAnnluain has to walk more than 100 yards between classrooms numerous times every day.

Worse still, some of the 180 pupils at Scoil Uí Cheithearnaigh in Ballinasloe are forced to walk similar distances along busy streets to their makeshift yard or for sports.

“Luckily, this is one of the first days of heavy rain this year but teachers and pupils alike are going to get wet going between classes most days every winter,” said Mr Ó hAnnluain.
