A report on September 18 stated that: "The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) is financed by the pharmaceutical industry and its first chairman was chief executive of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association."

Clarification: Dr Orla O'Donovan

We wish to clarify that this does not represent what UCC Applied Social Studies lecturer Dr Orla O'Donovan said at the conference on Health, Democracy and the Globalised Pharmaceutical Industry.

She said that the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) receives no funding from the Exchequer as all of its income is derived from fees paid by the industry.
