Founder of cancer retreat dies

ITA Bourke’s life was celebrated in a very special way yesterday.

The brave woman, who died last Sunday at age 39, was the driving force behind Ireland’s first cancer patients’ retreat and help centre.

Sadly, Ita did not live long enough for yesterday’s opening of the Leinster Area Retreat and Cancer Centre, just outside Mullingar in Co Westmeath.
