‘This is the type of killing we had hoped was consigned to the past’

OPPOSITION leaders last night joined the Taoiseach and Cabinet members in condemning the execution of Denis Donaldson.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny labelled the shooting “a shocking and brutal murder”. He continued: “This is the type of killing that we had all hoped was consigned to the past. It’s of great concern to us that this appears not to be the case.”

Labour leader Pat Rabbitte said that regardless of what allegations had been made against Mr Donaldson, nothing could justify his murder.
