THE Government is to use millions of euro in unclaimed life assurance policies for charitable purposes.

Money in policies which have been dormant for a long time will be transferred to the State from April 2004.

It is impossible to estimate how much will be collected from the accounts as the value of policies is dictated by the daily stock market.
