Lonely Soldier to combat Bush visit

FOLK legend Christy Moore and songwriter Damien Rice have joined forces to record a song called Lonely Soldier, the proceeds of which will be used to finance the protest against US President George W Bush’s visit to Ireland.

Mr Moore and Mr Rice will debut the track at an event organised by the Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM), which will feature a host of prominent musicians young and old hoping to promote the Stop Bush campaign.

Mr Moore said the right to protest was incredibly important. “The world seems to have become a more frightening place in recent years and freedoms are being eroded,” he said.
