Anti-drugs activists get ‘IRA’ death threats

The three men - all based in Tallaght, west Dublin - were allegedly told they would be killed if they continued with their activities and continued to use the name of the IRA.

The men are all members of the Coalition of Communities Against Drugs (COCAD), which contains a significant number of activists who are members of Sinn Féin. “The lads are fairly shocked. We never had a run-in with any republicans, who are mostly fairly supportive of anti-drug activities. There are a fair few members of Sinn Féin in COCAD,” said spokesman Paul Kelly.
