Pressure on government from disability group

THE chief executive of People with Disabilities in Ireland said yesterday there was an onus on the Government to immediately publish the long-awaited Disability Bill.

Michael Ringrose said the contents of the proposed Bill should be fully debated as a key issue in both the forthcoming European and local authority elections.

“The elections present an ideal opportunity for a full and frank debate on the needs of people with disabilities, their carers and all those who work with them,” he said.
