Three-candidate plan heads off FG election row

FINE Gael has averted a divisive row in the crucial constituency of Cork South Central by deciding to run three candidates.

Party headquarters decided late last week that three candidates be chosen at the convention on Wednesday night.

Only three nominations have been received to date. The decision will mean that Cllr Jerry Buttimer will be included on the ticket along with Simon Coveney and former TD Deirdre Clune.
