LIMERICK City Council, which was criticised for not commending Richard Harris while he was alive, last night agreed to honour the actor posthumously.

The council decided at its meeting to commission a portrait of the actor to be hung in City Hall.

Cllr John Gilligan, who initiated the proposal, said he would like acclaimed Limerick artist Tom Ryan to do the painting.
