THE availability and supply of drugs in Limerick has dropped dramatically since the flare up of a violent feud involving major crime families in the city.

The gangs controlling the drugs trade have brought to a virtual halt the importation and distribution of cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy and amphetamine.

The shortage has resulted from gang members going to ground to avoid being killed, coupled with a major garda surveillance operation on their homes.
