NUI Maynooth appoints business guru as chairman

THE National University of Ireland Maynooth has appointed former Enterprise Ireland chief executive Dan Flinter as chairman of its governing authority.

The move is in keeping with a widening policy among third-level colleges of opening their managerial doors to non-academic membership.

The appointment was approved at a meeting of the Governing Authority last week after moves by the university’s recently appointed president Professor John Hughes.
