Apology – Steve Collins allegations

In an article published on September 25, 2004, reference was made to a tabloid reporter who, it was claimed, had had a relationship with Gemma Collins, the former wife of Steve Collins, the former boxing champion.

The article also quoted Steve Collins as having claimed that the reporter concerned had published lies and trash about Steve Collins arising out of Collins’ relationship with his former wife.

We wish to unreservedly withdraw these allegations which are entirely untrue and without foundation. We are happy to acknowledge that the reporter concerned is a happily married man and we apologise to him and his wife.

We fully accept that the reporter was acting, and has at all times acted, in accordance with the highest journalistic standards and principles when writing about this or any other subject.
