Guide to help children be active

Eoin English

Barnardos said the Summer Activities Guide has information on everything from summer camps, to sports, day trips and special events.

The guide was launched moments after Lord Mayor Seán Martin opened Barnardos' National Children's Resource Centre.

The centre on Bowling Green, White Street, provides information on all aspects of children and childhood for parents.

"If a parent has a concern about a child for example in relation to bullying, special needs, bereavement or behavioural problems the NCRC has information and resources on all those issues," said head of services Anne Conroy. It will also act as a key resource for professionals working in the childcare sector.

A free Cork Child and Family Directory was also launched yesterday.

Supported by the Department of Social and Family Affairs, it features agencies and organisations offering supports.
