Armed gang steal 100,000 euro from Slane food trader
The man who ran a mobile catering company was held up by gunpoint after returning home from the Co Meath venue.
He was confronted by a group of four to six men who ordered him to hand over the cash as he pulled into his driveway on the Old Finglas Road in Finglas at around 2.20am yesterday morning.
They were armed with at least two shotguns and two handguns, although no shots were fired during the robbery and the victim was uninjured.
Finglas gardaí said the incident lasted just a few seconds and was clearly “a well-organised and carefully-planned operation”.
Detectives believe some of the gang kept the man under watch both at the concert and on the 30-mile journey home.
They believe the raiders hid in the man’s front garden just minutes before he arrived at the house.
Forensic detectives are examining a silver Opel Vectra found abandoned, early yesterday morning, two miles from the scene of the armed raid.
