Garda body lodges complaint over ‘unsuitable’ uniform

GARDA representatives have lodged a formal complaint with the Garda Commissioner about the new uniforms issued to members.

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) said the new heavy boots and thick trousers were totally unsuitable for summer weather.

The GRA also said a steel pin used to secure garda identification details on the shoulder of the uniforms could pose a health and safety risk.
