RTÉ unveils new children’s presenters
Limerick native Emma, 22, will be familiar to the public. She’s a former member of pop group Six and runner-up on RTÉ’s Telethon television and radio show Inside 252.
Beginning on February 5, she will present The Disney Club on Saturday and Sunday mornings on RTÉ Two.
“I’m really looking forward to presenting The Disney Club because I’m really a big kid at heart,” she said yesterday.
Emma is replacing regular presenter Mary Kingston, who is on maternity leave.
Bríd Treasa, 23, takes over Den AM from Geri Maye, who has gone to work elsewhere in RTÉ.
Bríd Treasa, who comes from An Ceathrú Rua in west Galway joins Soky to present pre-school kids’ favourite Den AM each weekday from 7am, starting next Monday.
“I’m looking forward to my new challenge and I’m very excited to be working with Soky,” she said yesterday.
She has been in the entertainment business since her early teens and has worked with Macnas in the Galway Arts Festival, done a stint with the Abbey Theatre and worked as a voiceover artist and actress.
She has also presented TG4’s Cúla.
Two new children’s programmes will go out on weekday afternoons on The Den.
Go For it, a new adventure sports series, airs on Wednesdays at 4.15pm. What’s The Story? will provide a forum for children aged 8-14 to tell their own stories. From February 8, the programme will go out on Tuesdays at 4.10pm.
