HEALTH Minister Micheál Martin said yesterday there would be a statutory inquiry into the children’s organ retention scandal but that switching to it before the Dunne Inquiry is completed would be pointless.

Furious members of the Parents for Justice group have walked away from the Dunne Inquiry, which is partly-completed, because of its lack of statutory powers.

They are also angry that an inquiry in which they have no faith has cost 5.3m to date and have accused the minister of not being in control of his department.
