HOUSE price growth will slow dramatically this year as a record number of properties come on the market.

However, that good news for first-time buyers was tempered yesterday by warnings that interest rates will double in the next two years.

The Bank of Ireland report says it expects the main European interest rate to double to 4% in the next two years, which would leave mortgage rates at around 5.5%.
