Open season as guns blaze in underworld

ALL of a sudden, the switch has been turned on in Dublin’s criminal underworld.

The year started off relatively quiet with only one gangland murder in the first three months. Then, at the end of March, parts of a dismembered body were pulled out of the Royal Canal. While not considered a “gangland” murder, it was a gruesome portent of things to come.

The last two weeks have been open season - with three shootings in the past two weeks.
