BRITISH calls for the Taoiseach to visit graves of soldiers who put down the 1916 rebellion have been backed by Fianna Fáil TDs.

Conservative shadow cabinet member Patrick Mercer MP wants the Government to officially remember the 134 British soldiers killed during the rising.

The Tory homeland security spokesman is a former commanding officer of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, which suffered the greatest number of casualties in the rebellion.
