Condom box the safest place

PEOPLE have put them in their socks, their safes, their banks, but a young Kerry Lotto winner kept his golden ticket in a condom box.

Condom box the safest place

Adding a new dimension to the safety aspect of the humble condom, Eamonn Brennan, a 23-year-old business studies student from Tralee in Co Kerry who won €300,000 in last Wednesday night’s draw, decided his durable Durex box was the “a good safe and discreet place to keep my lucky ticket!”

Yesterday, Eamonn and members of his family travelled to the National Lottery HQ in Dublin to collect his cheque.

Eamonn, who is working in the Brandon Hotel in Tralee for the summer, drew a few gasps of surprise when he produced his condom box at the Lotto offices. “I discovered I had won on the night of the draw when I heard the winning numbers being called out on the radio in my friend’s car,” he said.

Eammon said he went to the local shop to confirm the winning numbers and the attendant initially thought he had won €30,000 but called at the hotel shortly afterwards to say the figure was actually €300,000.

The winning ticket was purchased in Paidi Ryan’s Newsagents, Princes Street, Tralee, Co Kerry.
