PETROL and diesel prices have edged closer to an average of €1.30 a litre, driven by supply uncertainty on world markets.

Major oil distributor Texaco set the mark for more expensive fuel, announcing on Wednesday night it was charging €1.21 for petrol and €1.17 for diesel.

Motorists are now paying 20% more for fuel than a year ago.
