Plan to build suburban hotel gets go-ahead

Heiton Holdings Plc, which has its headquarters in Clondalkin, Dublin, has been granted permission by Cork County Council to build the hotel at Ardrostig, Bishopstown a prime location at the eastern end of the Ballincollig bypass.

Included in the project is a function room, meeting room, conference foyer, restaurant, bar and leisure facilities, plus a multi-storey car park. The local authority also gave permission yesterday for Mallow-based Castlelands Construction Ltd to construct 125 homes at Banshane, Midleton.

Developer James Colbert, from Lower Aghada, has received the go-ahead for 52 homes at Mosestown, Whitegate, while Ballincollig-based Frinailla Ltd has got the green light for 25 apartments and 40 duplex units at Ballincrossig, Glanmire.

Meanwhile, three major projects, with a total of 802 houses, have just been lodged with the council's planning department.

The largest application has been lodged in Fermoy. Cumnor Construction Ltd, a company based in Blarney, wants to build 303 houses south of the town.

One of the largest single developments ever planned for Bandon is now under consideration by planning officials.

A local company, Brady Construction Ltd, is seeking planning permission for 281 houses at Coolfadda and Kilbrogan.

The developers want to include a créche and sports pitches in the project. To facilitate the overall development they would also have to construct two road bridges.

Aceville Investments Ltd, owned by O'Sullivan Brothers Builders, is proposing to construct 213 homes at Carrignafoy, Cobh.

The company wants to include a retirement home and créche in these plans, as well as a children's playground.

Meanwhile, Anabole Contractors Ltd, a company based at Carrigrohane has been refused permission by Cork County Council to build 47 houses at Model Farm Road.
