Track criminals with tagging device, urges garda

ELECTRONIC tagging should be used to track dangerous criminals such as sex offenders, a garda representative said yesterday.

Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors president Joe Dirwan said tagging could also be used as an alternative to custody for more minor criminals.

Speaking at the AGSI annual conference in Galway he said electronic tagging was being used by police forces in other countries with good results.
