Stars line out for Guerin premiere
The political activist was kept waiting on the red carpet inside the cinema as organisers scrambled to find six seats for Bono, his wife and a group of friends.
Meanwhile, the unpredictable Colin Farrell appeared unperturbed when he arrived 15 minutes late to take his reserved seats, keeping the movies director Joel Schumacher and leading star Cate Blanchett waiting patiently at the entrance to screen one.
The reason for Colin’s delay, however, had nothing to do with work.
“Lets just say it wasn’t a tough day at the office,” he offered, before sauntering off to get popcorn.
Bono, meanwhile, looked relaxed as he chatted at length with the late Veronica Guerin’s family in the foyer.
“It’s a very important story,” he said of the film which charts the life of the slain Dublin crime journalist.
Director Joel Schumacher escorted Veronica’s mother Bernie up the red carpet.
“This is the real star here, my friend Bernie,” smiled Schumacher.
Actress Cate Blanchett, who plays the leading role, looked radiant in a black and silver sequinned dress as she strolled up the red carpet.
Hundreds of people lined the street outside the Savoy last night in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the numerous celebrities as they arrived.
Amongst the other high-profile names to show up were Brenda Fricker, Ronan Keating and Keith Duffy.
Following the movie, a formal reception was hosted by Minister for Arts John O’Donoghue in the State apartments at Dublin Castle.
