Pregnant woman treated for shock after joyrider crash
The woman narrowly escaped injury but was brought to hospital as a precaution following the collision.
Her vehicle was struck by a car driven by joyriders at Church Road in Lisduggan, Waterford city, on Monday evening, shortly before 7pm. Two youths were seen driving dangerously in the area when the crash happened.
The stolen car is understood to have overturned and landed on its roof following the collision.
Emergency services were contacted and an ambulance brought the pregnant woman to Waterford Regional Hospital. Gardaí also arrived at the scene of the crash, but the youths had reportedly fled on foot.
Gardaí in the city are understood to have a good idea as to the identity of the two joyriders.
“No one was arrested at the time, but gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry,” a spokesman said.
A spokesman for Waterford Regional Hospital yesterday said the woman had been discharged.
