Lotta rumours as €2.6m lucky Lotto lady lays low

THE rumour-factory is working overtime in a town which has been left wondering who picked up €2.6m from National Lottery headquarters yesterday.

Spokeswoman Paula McEvoy said the woman who scooped the jackpot wanted to keep her identity a secret. The mystery woman came up trumps after buying a 3 Quickpick ticket at Michael McPadden’s shop in Main Street, Midleton, Co Cork.

Mr McPadden believed the winner was a local. Mr McPadden joked that he bought a new jeep a few days before the jackpot, but if he’d waited to make the purchase people might have speculated that he was the big winner.
