HEALTH experts last night rejected claims from people living in Co Limerick who believe industrial pollution is causing cancer.

Officials from the Mid Western Health Board (MWHB) and the National Cancer Registry (NCR) told a meeting in Rathkeale that there was no evidence of high cancer rates in Askeaton.

The Cappagh Farmers' Support Group (CFSG) has claimed there were 55 deaths from cancer three times the national average in a four and a half mile area of Askeaton.
