Short bombing probe extraordinary, says Ahern

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern, yesterday said he found it extraordinary that the original Garda investigation into the 1974 Dublin/Monaghan bombings concluded in less than a year.

Mr Ahern told the Dáil he could only put the short investigation down to the attitude at the time to the large number of violent atrocities taking place.

"I found it extraordinary that the Garda investigation into the biggest atrocity in the South during the entire period of the troubles was opened and closed within a year," he said.
