Agreement ‘may still be possible by Christmas’

A DISAPPOINTED but determined Taoiseach Bertie Ahern last night said an agreement was still possible before Christmas.

Mr Ahern described the Government proposals published yesterday as “landmark” and “comprehensive”.

He promised to maintain contacts with all parties “to ensure peace and political stability in Northern Ireland”.
