Rabbitte lays out Budget demands

LABOUR leader Pat Rabbitte yesterday used a converted World War Two amphibious landing craft to ram home his wish list for next week’s Budget.

Mr Rabbitte and a group of pensioners boarded the Viking Splash boat in Dublin to take the party’s seven-point plan for a fair share-out of national wealth to the Department of Finance in Dublin.

Mr Rabbitte said the Government had an historic opportunity to close the growing income gap in Ireland. He issued “seven minimum demands” for inclusion in next Wednesday’s set piece Budget statement in the Dáil.
